My current research topics in international marketing and trade are:
- The role of trade metrics and analytics in the internationalisation of firms, industries and countries
- Reindustrialisation in South Africa
- Concording trade and industry data for a better understanding the role of trade in industry performance
- Exporting online
- Online product returns across borders
- South Africa’s global trade performance
- Developing a sustainable trade index for South Africa
- A trade history of South Africa
One of my doctoral students (co-supervised with Dr Gopaul) is looking at developing an internationalisation framework for Green Hydrogen in South Africa.

You are welcome to chat to me if you are an honours-level student intending to complete a master’s or doctorate at the University of South Africa in international marketing, exporting, international trade or any topic that has a cross-border business perspective. You need to meet the Unisa requirements for registration for the postgraduate level of study that you are interested in (masters or doctorate) and I cannot guarantee your acceptance by Unisa.
